SUMMARY
Following Liberty Mutual’s acquisition of Safeco, the organization faced a massive challenge: integrating over 3,000 hours of legacy training content into a new learning management system (LMS). Much of the existing material was outdated, non-SCORM-compliant, and lacked standardized documentation, making it difficult to preserve learning integrity and meet compliance requirements.


Following Liberty Mutual’s acquisition of Safeco, the organization faced a massive challenge: integrating over 3,000 hours of legacy training content into a new learning management system (LMS).

Each company used different LMS systems, which weren't compatible, therefore the migrated training content from Safeco to Liberty's LMS had to be completed manually.

Much of the existing Liberty Mutual material required updates, and Liberty Mutual's LMS wasn't SCORM-compatible. They use WebEx and housed all of their training content within a SharePoint repository.

The primary mission was to lead change management efforts and equip both new and existing employees with the skills and mindset needed to successfully navigate the integration of Safeco into Liberty Mutual.

As the lead instructional designer, I spearheaded the migration and transformation of Safeco’s training assets into Liberty Mutual’s SharePoint.

The successful migration enabled Liberty Mutual to preserve critical training resources while modernizing delivery and compliance. Eventually they would have a new LMS Lectora to house a fully functional, searchable, and accredited library of learning content, supporting seamless onboarding and continued education for thousands of employees across departments. The governance program laid the foundation for scalable content management and future instructional design initiatives.
